Danny Elfman
Daniel Robert Elfman is an American film composer, singer and songwriter. He came to prominence as the singer-songwriter for the new wave band Oingo Boingo in the early 1980s. He was born May 29th, 1953, making him (as of posting) 69 years old. Danny is most well know for his collabertaion with the producer Tim Burton, having done the music for nearly all of his movies (and the TV show Wednesday.)
Danny Elfman was in Oingo Boingo from the years 1979 to 1995, ending on Halloween Night of '95.
During his 18 years with Oingo Boingo, Elfman developed significant hearing damage as a result of the continuous exposure to the high noise levels involved in performing in a rock band. Afraid of worsening his condition, he decided to leave the band, saying that he would never return to that kind of performance. (*cough* liar *cough*)
From then, Danny had retired from being a singer and soley focused on being a composer; that is until 2015. In 2015, after the live orchestra perfomance of The Nightmare Before Christmas, Danny picked up a guitar and sang Dead Man's Party at the end of his peformance; this is now a ongoing tradition. In 2019, Coachella approached Danny to perfom a career spanning show to which Danny agreed. They also commissioned Danny for two new songs for him to sing specifically at Coachella, which he did indeed created; they are titled 'Sorry' and 'Happy'.
Covid-19 happened, and Coachella 2020 and Coachella 2021 (along with most events around the world) were cancelled. During this time period, Danny came out with his 2nd solo album, and his first album since 1994 (that being Oingo Boingo's final album 'Boingo.') The album, called 'Big Mess' includes 18 new songs, a handful of which had been teased prior on the 11th of each month in 2020. This inclided the two songs he created for Coachella.. In 2022, Danny preformed at Coachella with a mix of Oingo, movie pieces and songs from his newest album. In typically Danny style, halfway through the song 'True', Danny took off his shirt, revealing a fit, tattoo covered body.
In October of 2022, Danny preformed another career spanning concert at the Hollywood Bowl, two days before Halloween. The concert spanned about4 hours, 3-ish hours were his set alone.
A friend of mine who lives in California went and managed to get me a poster from the concert, which is hanging on my wall, along with a few other pictures of Danny himself. I also own the Big Mess box set, so I have a cool lamp of Danny Elfman's hand!
The song playing is In Time from Danny's latest album, Big Mess. :)
I am very normal about this man. /j
